Vasanta Institute of Ayurveda (VIOA) was founded in 2008 as a center for transformative Ayurvedic education and healing. Since its inception, VIOA has served as a dedicated space for in-depth Panchakarma therapies and a nurturing environment for advanced student learning. Over the years, clients and students from around the world have come to VIOA to experience authentic healing modalities and deepen their understanding of Ayurveda in a traditional yet innovative setting.

VIOA is guided by the pioneering vision of Dr. Vasant Lad, whose life’s work has woven together the threads of Ayurveda, spirituality, clinical practice, and compassionate education. Raised in Pune, India—where his family, initially skeptical of his chosen path, eventually became his strongest supporters—Dr. Lad was inspired from an early age by his guru’s prophecy: that he would become a healer, travel abroad, and share the wisdom of Ayurveda with the world.

Our core mission is to foster holistic well-being, self-awareness, and spiritual growth through the science and art of Ayurveda. We honor Ayurveda not only as a clinical and practical medical science, but also as a path to living in harmony with nature, cultivating inner clarity, and awakening each individual to their own unique constitution and divine potential.



Panchakarma and Holistic Healing

At its heart, VIOA offers comprehensive Panchakarma programs—a cornerstone of traditional Ayurveda. Students and patients alike benefit from a hands-on, immersive approach to detoxification, rejuvenation, and personalized wellness. All Panchakarma therapies at VIOA are overseen and taught by Dr Lad and experienced faculty, ensuring deep clinical exposure and skill development for those on an educational or healing journey.

A Center for Advanced Study

VIOA is proud to collaborate with the Ayurvedic Institute’s ASP 3 (Ayurvedic Studies Program, Level 3). Currently, ASP 3 students come to the center for their fourth-year advanced program to study pathologies in depth. This unique residency allows them to observe and participate in both the Pranav city clinic and the Panchakarma program. Under close mentorship, students engage in comprehensive clinical rotations, learning everything from nuanced diagnostic skills to integrative treatment planning for complex conditions.

Dr. Vasant Lad’s Enduring Vision

For many years, Dr. Vasant Lad dreamed of creating an ashram dedicated to teaching and practicing authentic Ayurveda as an integrated medical discipline—an environment where Indian students and patients could access world-class care, education, and spiritual guidance, just as students in the West had experienced under his leadership at the Ayurvedic Institute. Decades before any construction began, Dr. Lad quietly acquired the land on the outskirts of Pune, holding steadfast to a vision that he would fulfill when the timing was right.
